Who We Are

Zimeleni Scholar Transport Association was founded in 2018 by a group of dedicated transport operators who recognised the need for a structured, accountable, and safe scholar transport service in the KwaZulu-Natal community.

The name "Zimeleni" means "stand up for yourself" — reflecting our commitment to empowering transport operators while upholding the highest standards of safety and service for learners.

Today we operate across multiple schools in the greater Durban region, transporting hundreds of learners daily under a strict code of conduct that every member is obliged to uphold.

Our Journey

2018

Founded

Zimeleni was established by 5 founding operators committed to improving scholar transport standards in Umlazi.

2020

Formal Registration

The association was formally registered as a Non-Profit Organisation and expanded to 3 schools.

2022

Growth & Compliance

Membership grew to 20 operators. A Code of Conduct was adopted and vehicle compliance inspections introduced.

2026

Today

847 learners transported daily across 12 schools and 24 routes. Digital management system introduced for full operational transparency.
